Poor maintenance and cleanliness coupled with bad management
In my first 6 weeks living here, I’ve had to call the emergency maintenance line multiple times due to significant issues, including a failed front door lock, a non-functioning oven, and repeated power outages in my unit.
The most serious concern has been the ongoing power failures and the response from management. When the power went out on a Friday, I was told by the manager on duty that he did not have the authority to call an electrician without approval from a supervisor who was on vacation, and I was asked if I could wait a few days. To be fair, the supervisor followed up over the weekend and credited me one month’s rent. However, the power issues have continued and are still occurring on a regular basis.
The condition of the unit at move-in was also unacceptable. It appeared that the apartment had not been properly inspected or cleaned prior to my arrival. Issues included a shower head held in place with tape, a broken front door lock, a loose heating vent hanging over the bed, sticky cabinet doors, a loose toilet seat, baked-on food in the microwave, and paint drips on the floors.
I chose to rent at E3 Apartments, managed by National Development, expecting that a newer building with onsite management would provide a well-maintained and professionally managed living environment. While the maintenance staff have been friendly, the overall experience has been disappointing.
Prospective tenants should take care to thoroughly inspect their unit and clarify how maintenance issues—particularly urgent ones—are handled before signing a lease.
